The BIOGER Cytology-Imaging platform, IMAFUN has the objective to support BIOGER research teams and other collaborators.
In order to support the research activities of the unit, IMAFUN :

  1. provides customized advice to users,
  2. trains staff and students in sample preparation, imaging and image analysis techniques,
  3. promotes and disseminates microscopy tools, and
  4. organizes, maintains and develops the platform infrastructure and protocols.

A steering committee was set up in 2019, composed of representatives from all the research teams, a scientific advisor and the platform manager.

Within the Ile-de-France region, IMAFUN has a unique infrastructure specialised in plant-fungal interactions with four domains of expertise: sample preparation for imaging, light microscopy; electron microscopy and image analysis.

Since the relocation of BIOGER to Saclay, the platform was re-structured so that part of it is now located inside the L2 confinement area, making it well-adapted to the study of phytopathogenic GMOs. Indeed, the close proximity of the microscopes and sample preparation lab to L2 growth facilities for plants and fungi provides a unique infrastructure for the Paris-Saclay scientific community. In particular, this juxtaposition is critical for live-cell imaging of phytopathogens and infected plants.
